This is a log of the happenings during BLIZZARD 2011. Kinda like if we were stranded on a deserted island. (Wouldn't that would be so cool?)

DAY 1: entry 1 - 9:15 am ---
WOW! We're so excited!!! It snowed last night!!! Today's a SNOW DAY!!! YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
entry 2 - 12:47 pm ---
Man, it's blistering cold out there! But oh so much fun, and so beautiful! We've had a blast with snow fights and now we can't feel our fingers or toes or noses... Time for hot chocolate and thawing out by the fire.
entry 3 - 6:31 pm ---
It's been an awesome day! Mom has been baking yummy stuff all day, and we just had stew for dinner. They say Abilene ISD is still evaluating the situation for tomorrow, we'll see... fingers crossed!
entry 4 - 9:15 pm ---
YES!!!!!! School's out tomorrow too! It's movie night! We can stay up all night!!! COOL!!!

DAY 2: entry 5 - 8:24 am ---
It's still there, AWESOME! I guess that makes sense considering it hasn't gotten above 8 degrees in the past 24 hours. We're ready to go back outside, but mom said we better leave her alone until at least 8:30 this morning, but that's ok - only 10 more minutes! Wish it would get here soon, we're hungry!
entry 6 - 10:14 am ---
Mom's totally the best, she made us waffles! So excited about going back out and playing in the snow. Dad cancelled his clinic for today so he'll be home soon and play with us. It's gonna be a blast!
entry 7 - 2:32 pm ---
Dad's home now. We had lunch, leftover stew :( We went outside for a little while, but it sure feels colder than yesterday. The boys stayed out for a bit but the girls came in after a short time. Dad's out shoveling snow for some odd reason and Abby just showed up with a dead bird! This is such a weird family!
entry 8 - 4:38 pm ---
We broke out RockBand, forgot how much fun that is!
entry 9 - 7:00 pm ---
Don't know what's going on around here, I just heard mom scream out "NOOOOOOO!!!" real loud. She can be a little dramatic sometimes.
entry 10 - 7:18 pm ---
MAN OH MAN OH MAN!!!!! I know why mom was all excited a minute ago, school's cancelled AGAIN! You'd of thought she would of screamed out YES and not NO, but she's always backwards one way or another. So cool, another movie night and staying up late. Mom keeps mumbling something about us going to school anyway, but we all know she's such a kidder.
entry 11 - 10:05 pm ---
We watched Ground Hog Day, the movie. We figured it was fitting. Mom made a great dinner and a delicious peach pie. She's done gone to bed, something about Abby's singing at RockBand and Tylenol - didn't catch it all.

Day 3: entry 12 - 9:33 am ---
We're ready for another day of snow fun, I think. I sure wish we could go somewhere. Mom says it's just not safe enough. Even though I know she can drive ok on the ice, with her luck she'd be one of those poor saps who wipes out right in front of the news crew and hits something stupid like a light pole. And even better than that, it would probably be so hysterical that it would be one of the clips that makes the national news and is shown all over the world on YouTube. She says it's just not worth it. She does need to lighten up a little though, she's starting to look a bit stressed out. Wonder why?
entry 13 - 12:42 pm ---
Hmmm, for lunch we had ham slapped on bread (I mean literally slapped) and whatever else we could find to go with it. Weird, I know! Oh well, she's probably just tired or something. Man it's way too cold to go outside - I think we're kinda done with that for now. RockBand it is!
entry 14 - 1:36 pm ---
Hey, guess what? It's snowing outside again!
entry 15 - 4:13 pm ---
Very strange around here! Dad just got home with take out, something about mom not cooking again for a while. I know, like we get that? She's in her room crying for some reason. She was perfectly fine, then the 4 o'clock news came on and she left the room screaming... Man, I think she may need some professional help sometimes.
entry 16 - 5:06 pm ---
We get mom's crying episode now - it all makes sense. Schools already been cancelled for tomorrow as well. You'd think she would be more excited, right? Oh well, we're kinda getting bored around here, but hey - NO SCHOOL! Sounds good to us, but she keeps yelling something about working around the house tomorrow, and after we're done cleaning we're gonna wish we were at school. She's so funny!
entry 17 - 8:22 pm ---
Dad just came in and told us all that we needed to be a little more considerate to mom's feelings tomorrow or something like that... He said she has retired for the evening, but I know she's just resting or something, she'll be back in here to jam with us soon. She loves RockBand as much as we do!

DAY 4: entry 18 - 11:07
This morning has been ok so far. Mom woke up with a smile on her face, but waffles sure weren't on the menu... Instead, she pulled out a box of granola bars and said "Enjoy"! She then told everyone to go take a shower, since it had been like 3 days for most of us. Word is, that we're getting out of this joint today. So excited! She said that what we have is called "cabin fever", and she said that it was so bad in North Texas that it made one of the lead stories on Yahoo News. Strange, I know. I can guarantee you that none of us have a real fever, must be one of those idioms I learned about in school. (See, I'm not losing all my smarts this week like Dad said I would.) Anyhow, we're fixing to leave to go to the bookstore, then lunch, then our traditional Friday afternoon bowling. Usually we pick up a few extra kids to join us, but today she said that they had to get their own ride. Something about their parents had to take the risk, not her. She just cracks me up sometimes! Just promise that if you see her on the national news tonight, you can call Dad or any of us kids... But whatever you do, no matter how much you want to, DO NOT LET MOM KNOW SHE WAS ON THE NEWS!!
entry 19 - 4:48 pm ---
Well the ice was pretty bad indeed! Mom laughed so hard she almost slid off the road when she drove by the news station right down the street from us. They conveniently had a camera permanently set up on constant record mode just to make sure they caught all the footage - the good and the bad. (Good thing we weren't some of the bad...) But she did well, no 360's or sliding into the opposite lane. She was actually having fun with it all at the end, probably a little too much fun... We told her there was a report on the news last night about getting fined for doing donuts in parking lots but she just giggled. No, she didn't do any donuts, but I kinda think she wanted to. Just to be safe, I'm certainly not going out with her next time..., maybe she does have a fever. She also wants to go sledding off the side of the overpass at 7th street, I just don't get her sometimes - I mean, that sounds dangerous to me! Well, we made it to the bookstore, but we decided to venture no further than Dairy Queen for lunch. It was the closest thing, and we were all starving. (We got Blizzards - WooHoo!) The bowling alley was closed, as was the skating rink. So we just came home and played more RockBand.
entry 20 - 5:35 pm ---
Mom ventured out again and went to Walmart a little while ago to pick up a few necessities, couple of the kids went with her. She said the store we packed! She said it was like Christmas Eve! She was a little annoyed... She said it took her 15 minutes to get what she needed and 45 minutes to get through the check-out line. So glad we didn't all go! (She gets a little crazy when she gets annoyed, especially in those check-out lines!)
entry 21 - 6:12 pm ---
OMG! They just said on the news that it would warm up slightly this weekend but there was a chance of snow again Sunday night into Monday morning, and again next Thursday! Is this awesome or what! WOW, we could have another snow week! How sweet would that be?!!
entry 22 - 8:43 pm ---
This is so not fair! Mom says that we'll probably have to go to school for a whole extra week in June now because of the snow days! She's says she's totally ok with that, I mean shouldn't she fight that or something?
entry 23 - 9:01 pm ---
This is MOM...
No way am I gonna fight that! I've found a bright side to all this! When the kids are spending those warm sunny days at school that extra week in June, guess where I'll be? I'm going to be spending my days lounging at the pool, working on my tan!!! I'm so excited!!!
entry 23 - 9:36 pm ---
Really MOM? The pool... while we're all slaving away in the classroom! That's so wrong!!! She must be joking! I'm sure she'll be up here too, volunteering and helping out the teachers as always.
entry 24 - 11:30 pm ---
Well, it seems as though BLIZZARD 2011 is officially over. Bummer! We're all so sad :( Even though she won't admit it, I know Mom's a little sad too, she teases us about being pains in the rear end and all that, but she loves having us home with her.
In closing, we all had an absolute blast during our Snow Week! We had some serious snowball fights, although there was a lot of crying (Abby) when she just happened to be the target, over and over again. Mom says we all gained 10 pounds from all the eating we did, but I really think it was just her. (I should probably delete that last comment.) But Mom, what did you expect? You cooked constantly! Dad says, "Apparently when it snows, Mom cooks - alot!" She made so much food there is no room in any of our fridges, and we have more fridges than normal people have. Of course, most of them are filled with disgusting stuff like Ducks and Doves and last I heard, Sand Hill Crane? Really DAD???!!! Oh well, it's over and life must go on. So we'll be crossing our fingers while watching the Sunday evening news that whatever else blows in will be known as BLIZZARD 2011 - THE SEQUEL. Will you cross your fingers too?
*PLEASE NOTE
-No children were injured, abused or harmed in any way during the 2011 Blizzard.
